God does exactly what He wants to do. Most would agree this is true but what does it mean? In simple terms it says he only does those things that He wants to do and He never does those things which He doesn't want to do. He is never compelled to do anything by any of the compelling forces that we are subject to. He doesn't do anything because He thinks He must and He never does anything because He feels like He ought to. God has no sense of ought like we do. He is also never prevented from doing something He wishes to do. He doesn't ring His hands wishing He could do something but is prevented from it. There are certainly things He plans to do when the conditions are as He wishes them. There are many things He is willing and even in a sense desirous to do when they come in line with His will or intention. God wills to do certain things but will only do them when they are in accord with what He wants. |

It seems that the further I go in my life with God the more undeserving I see myself. The more I study and pray and meditate and seek the things of God a part of me is gripped by how much more aware I am of my unworthiness. There is a line of thought that would suggest that though none of us are worthy of the love of God, there are some who are much closer than others and that should be evident. But honestly I don't think it works that way. The people who know God the best are the ones who see themselves as the least worthy. Those who have only a borrowed view of God have issues with whether or not they are getting a fair shake. |

Today in a recreational environment I was able to observe several families as they spent time together. I saw a few families that I wondered if there would be any survivors. I saw others where the parents used only one way of dealing with difficulties and that was anger. There was one mother who had only one tone and that was loud and harsh. I saw so many children feeling the proverbial wrath of their parents and dishing that same wrath back and forth to each other. Frustration seemed to be the guiding principle of much of the parenting that I observed. It is silly to think that children don’t feel responsible for all the frustration. |

The whole idea of religion is built around the question of relationship with God. You may have heard a thousand sermons in which someone basically made a mockery of the how and why of man relating to God. But that still doesn't eliminate the basic issue of the possibility of it occurring. There are people on television every day who connect your relationship with God to whether or not you send them some money. There are those who paint God as some kind of dozing grandfather. Some portray Him as the nitpicking judge. Others portray Him as the great crutch invented to make us feel better about ourselves. All of these false representations of God lead people into empty and pretend relationships with Him or to give up on Him altogether. These do not however eliminate the real possibility of relationship with God and His desire to enter into relationship with His creatures. The fact that God allows people to misrepresent Him doesn't make Him cease to exist. |

When my wife and I were married the wedding ceremony was closed with the song, God be with us until we meet again. The idea of God being with us in our marriage was a wonderful thought to close out the ceremony. In fact it is a very appealing sentiment for any occasion. It was such an important concept to God that In the first chapter of the book of Matthew it was revealed that the name of Jesus would be called Immanuel which translated means God With Us. Jesus was the physical expression of God coming to be with people. Everything about Jesus properly received and understood still today declares God with us. |
